A handrail as raw as the staircase. Steel, burnt black, and oiled. As you ascend or descend the staircase, you will grasp the flat steel, 50mm wide and 8mm thick, and not let go until you exit the staircase.
No grip, no interruption, no change of direction. Just one level and one element. The handrail will be prefabricated per staircase and welded on site to a large construction element that hangs in the stairwell.
All welds are angularly sophisticated without rounding in steel. Conventional wisdom states that the handrail should be exactly where you would expect it to be. Straight and untreated.
Several prototypes shaped the final form and materials used. The rawness is designed to be touched and experienced, in that the steel remains as natural as possible, making it something simple yet special.
