Every project initially has an essential phase of analysing and researching. Depending on the user concept and requirement projects vary considerably. We often come up with completely new ways of approaching the subject – be it manually, visually or technically.
The Research and Development Building Balgrist Campus arranges 5 different research departments in an open plan office. Spatially the users often coincide during their activities – conditions offering opportunities for interaction and sharing of knowledge.
The drawings show one of the very first studies of the requirements of the specific department. Depending on their activities the required number of office space, lab space for dry and wetlabs and area for shared facilities are analysed and distributed. At the same time, while approaching volumetric studies, the functions and activities were arranged on the different levels. The drawings offer an effective way of clarifying procedures and visualizing location of activities in a very early state.
