Globally-dispersed IT services provided by Roche will be merged into three buildings. The Innovation Center in Kaiseraugst is the largest IT Roche site worldwide and is set to be a groundbreaking beacon project in terms of job quality, cooperation, innovation, and exchange among departments.
The ground floor level is the most important platform for communication and networking. This is where the Innovation Lab, cafeterias, meeting rooms, and project workstations are located. A concerted open-space concept offers outdoor seating areas for cafeterias and various outdoor lounges and meeting facilities. The centre is the common space between the four buildings.
The basic structure of the building is characterised by its modular, highly flexible office landscape: There is the option of having individual offices, group offices, or "open office" areas, as all of the workstations are on the façade. Each building is given its own identity through an individually-designed atrium: Cascading floors are connected via stairs, landings, and platforms. This is where more public, communicative areas such as meeting rooms, kitchens, lounges, touchdown workstations, and open project spaces are located. The arrangement of the lifts and stairs in the atrium enriches the natural, vertical movement between the floors via visual correspondences, chance encounters, and changing moods of light and space.
