At the beginning of 2021 the government approved the second phase of the development plan for the Walkeweg area in Basel. The new primary school will be one of the first buildings in the area based on the principle of «Low Cost – Low Energy». Topics such as CO2-emissions, climate-friendly construction, circular economy and social sustainability should build the foundation to answer current questions on sustainability and provide innovative solutions. « [...] With «Fire, Water, Storm and Ice» the authors proposed a refreshing design in which sustainable elements are implemented in an exciting architecture. It’s very possible that the house could contribute as a «living learning board» to raise awareness for sustainability» writes the jury.
